Effective Invisalign® treatment: a step-by-step guide

Having a beautiful, healthy smile is always desirable, however, traditional braces are often bulky, uncomfortable, and unsightly. This is why many of our patients in Metro Vancouver prefer Invisalign®.

Invisalign® is a safe, customizable way for patients to achieve a perfect smile on their terms, and getting this cosmetic dentistry treatment in Vancouver is easy and effective.

Step 1: Dental exam

For cosmetic dentistry purposes, our dentists will take x-rays, photographs, and impressions of your teeth.

Before Invisalign®, Coquitlam and Vancouver's patients are also examined for signs of gum infections and decay or cavities to make sure their teeth are healthy prior to the treatment.

This exam is crucial for getting the perfect Invisalign® treatment plan for your teeth.

Step 2: Creating a treatment plan

When you visit our clinic for Invisalign® in Vancouver
or Coquitlam, we make a custom treatment plan that specifically achieves your goals. We use the photographs, x-rays, and bite impressions to set up a series of clear aligner trays for your treatment.

The number of trays and length of your treatment will depend on the expert opinion of our dentists, but most patients can expect 20-30 trays that must each be worn as often as possible for about
10 to 14 days.

Step 3: Monitoring and adjustments

The Invisalign® process truly is that simple. Once our dentists have all of your information, you will receive your first set of trays. How many you receive and how long you must wear them will be unique to your situation.

However, our dentists recommend wearing the aligners for at least 20 hours every day for best results. Typically, aligners should only be removed for cleaning and eating.

You can expect to have regular check-ups at our Vancouver Invisalign® clinic or  Coquitlam Invisalign® clinic so that we can monitor your progress and ensure your teeth are progressing along correctly during treatment.

For most patients, there will be a new aligner to continue adjustments every 10 days to two weeks. Some cases may need more time, and others may need less.
