Give your smile a refreshing makeover with these 4 cosmetic dentistry treatments

Jun 23 • 2 minute read

Having missing, crooked or broken teeth prevents many people from smiling, causing insecurity and, sometimes, even prompts avoiding social situations due to lack of confidence.

That’s where cosmetic dentistry comes to the rescue!

The objective of cosmetic dentistry treatments is to help you achieve your ideal smile by altering the colour and appearance of your teeth. And our team at Ace Dental has the expertise and years of experience to help you feel your best so you can share your smile with the world.

If you’re looking to give your pearly whites a refreshing makeover, here are the most common cosmetic dentistry treatments:

Dental crowns

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped coverings made of porcelain. Crowns are used for improving the look and function of teeth that are broken, discoloured, decayed, chipped or have a large restoration and are prone to fracture.

Porcelain is the material that most closely resembles natural teeth, so our dental crowns can be artistically crafted to match the colour of a patient’s natural teeth with great accuracy. Individual crowns can also be placed on dental implants.

With the exception of dental implant cases, which take a few visits, patients typically only need to come to the clinic twice for dental crowns. During the first appointment, we prepare the tooth and take a conventional or digital impression/moulds of the teeth. These impressions are then used in the dental lab to make the crown, which fits snug to the tooth. During the second appointment, the permanent crown is fitted.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are another cosmetic dentistry treatment Coquitlam and Vancouver residents can choose.

These are very thin shells of porcelain that are cemented to the surfaces of prepared teeth to correct the look of teeth that have been broken or chipped or are used to close the gaps between the teeth.
In other words, porcelain veneers are partial porcelain crowns, which only cover the front of the tooth.

Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is the treatment for those who may be self-conscious about their teeth because they feel they’re too dull or yellow.

Tooth whitening performed by a dentist is both safer and brings more of a dazzling smile than anything a patient can do at home. The usual tooth whitening process requires a few visits to get teeth whiter and brighter, but our dentists use Zoom! ® Whitening, which lets the patient achieve brilliantly white teeth after one visit.

Bonding

With bonding, gapped, chipped or uneven teeth are repaired using composite resin. Some patients turn to composite bonding when they can’t quite afford the expense of or have the time to undergo procedures such as porcelain veneers and crowns.

Bonding is an affordable but not a long-lasting option, unlike porcelain crowns or veneers.

Ace Dental offers cosmetic dentistry in Vancouver and Coquitlam to help restore your smile, give you confidence, and help you feel your best.
